Reza Banakar was born in Shiraz in southern Iran, attended school in Shrewsbury during the 1970s, and went on to study for a degree in applied mathematics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. At the beginning of the 1980s, he moved to Sweden, where he studied law, sociology and philosophy at Lund University.

Reza Banakar Last updated August 30, 2020. Reza Banakar died in August 2020. He was an Iranian-born Professor of Legal Sociology at Lund University, Sweden. Before joining Lund in 2013, he was Professor of Socio-Legal Studies at the Department of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of Westminster, London.
